By default, the search box will look for students with a first, middle, and / or last name that is similar to your search query. The search is “fuzzy”; it will still find results even if they don’t exactly match your search letter-for-letter.

The SMS will try to return the most relevant results first, but if you search a very common first or last name you might get a lot of similar results. Search will typically work best if you are more specific.

There are a few tips for search:

Finding a student by PEN

To search by provincial education number, prefix the search by “pen:”

For example, “pen:123456”

Finding a student by pupil number

To search by pupil number, prefix the number by “pupil:”

For example, “pupil:123456”

Finding a student by phone number

To search by phone number, prefix the number by “ph:”

For example, “ph:(250) 572-7938”

This search also searches the phone numbers of a student’s contacts.

Email address

You can search directly by email address.

For example, “[email protected]” will return the student with that email, if one exists.
